When it came to issues within the transgender community, I, at one point, was extremely ignorant and bigoted towards this movement. There was a time where they were depicted only in a negative light. I am genuinely embarrassed of the ignorance I had towards this community as well as any & all negative comments that followed such ignorance.
I am grateful that it finally dawned on me that I have no right to speak against them. Especially being a minority myself. I have not a clue what a transgender person goes through, but I do know they are just trying to live their lives. They deserve support towards the community.
As a cisgender woman, I can only speak for myself, call out blatant misogyny & transphobia, sip my tea, write for my blog & carry on about my day. I refuse to go by hearsay & learned to take the time to listen to the individuals within the community. This helps me have more respect for those who are transgender & can’t help but admire how they maneuver life in a way they feel more comfortable doing so. Just like a continuously preach about everyone living authentically, they too deserve to be comfortable in their own skin just like everyone else.
So, to say I respect the transgender movement as well as the LGBTQ+ community is simply an understatement. You have my full support & respect.
